Safe Sanctuary Policy

Since 2007, churches in the South Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church have sought to provide and implement Safe Sanctuaries practices. Each local church must maintain a Safe Sanctuaries policy and review it annually.
Safe Sanctuaries is a “social structure that is consistent with the gospel” (2016 UMC Book of Discipline ¶122), allowing our sanctuaries, classrooms, mission encounters, camps and retreats – and all spaces where we gather to worship and serve God – to be places of trust.


Please be aware that we will be filming all of our Sunday Services as well as most of our Special Services and the video will be put on our YouTube channel as well as our website. If you have children that attend services and do not want them to be filmed, please do not allow them to participate in Coins of Change or Children's Time, as the whole service will be filmed, including those portions. Thank you for your understanding.


Socastee United Methodist Church requires all individuals who will be working with children and or vulnerable adults to review the Safe Sanctuary video found above.


Once you review this video please download the following 2 forms;  Background Check and Church Volunteer Covenant. Complete these forms and staple together. Turn these forms into the church office.
